This is a marvellous time capsule of British comedy, showcased by the incomparable Peter Sellers, who was at the top of his game in 1963. The writing of Bricusse and Newley is in the same league as TW3. Politicians are a major target, as is Britain’s place in the world. The Common Market, MacMillan, Harold Wilson, Catherine Keeler and the Secret Service are all subjects that receive the comedic treatment. Seller’s performs his brilliant array of world accents to great effect and is ably supported by Anthony and Joan, the newly weds!! Thoroughly recommended, brilliant comedy and a great copy of the album.
