Really solid bit of vinyl with a little bit of faint background crackle in the rare quiet passage on Side 1 Track 1 and between tracks. A couple of minor clicks at the end of Side 2 Track 2. The cover has a minor tear on the inside of the gatefold and has creasing along the edges and some corner rubbing, but pretty good overall.

Mighty Baby were formed after the mod band The Action (guitarist Alan King, bassist Mike Evans and drummer Roger Powell) were joined by pianist Ian Whiteman and ex-Savoy Brown guitarist Martin Stone. The Action had initially been signed to Parlophone by none other than George Martin. However, this was Mighty Baby’s first studio album having signed to Head Records and was released in 1969. The album kicks off with the excellent ‘Egyptian tomb’ showcasing great melodies and great musicianship. Some great fluid guitar lines throughout the album and some superb harmonies and drumming and some mesmerizing keyboards turn this album into a masterpiece of late psychedelic jazz rock. ‘Trials of a city’ really gets rocking  and there’s even a touch of early Americana on ‘I’m from the country’. A bit of everything here, how can anyone not like this. Highly recommended, it’s a forgotten classic.
