BRIEF SUMMARY

This is Ian Matthews first solo album since departing Matthews Southern Comfort. However, solo is probably not the right description, as the supporting artists are a who’s who of British folk and Fairport Convention particularly. You have Gerry Conway, Pat Donaldson, Tim Renwick, Richard (the Fly) Thompson, Andy Roberts and Sandy Denny (on piano and backing vocals!!). My personal favourites are ‘Little known’ which has great vocals and real atmosphere as the story develops and his rendition of Farina’s ‘Morgan the pirate’ which is quite brilliant, great lead acoustic from Tim Renwick and great lyrics (we’ve all known a ‘Morgan’).
