This was Ian A Anderson’s first solo album on his own Village Thing label, which was tagged as the ‘Alternative Folk Label’. Ian included his middle initial to differentiate him from the frontman of Jethro Tull – Ian Anderson, who also released his own solo material. Ian A was a stalwart of the Bristol folk scene in the 60’s and 70’s, especially at the Troubadour Club in Clifton. This album (all songs, apart from 2, written by Ian) has not been re-released on CD as Ian refuses to release the original tapes. I think he should be more proud of this album, as there are some cracking tracks here. ‘Please re-adjust your time’ has some great guitar with bongo accompaniment and some fine lyrics. He has a crack at education methods in ‘Shining grey’, which still seem relevant today. Some great guitar- work on ‘Hero. ‘Silent night No.2’ builds into a beautiful, thoughtful song. Another great and forgotten album that is well worth re-discovering.
