You have to be a certain age to remember Adam Faith but for anyone who could sing, was as good looking as he was, and who moved into movies down the line, you would have thought his name would live on for many years. I’m not sure it did and I’m guessing there is many a story to tell. Leo Sayer’s manager at one point; bankrupt later on; a financial journalist? He touched many areas.
The music? Very, very typical music of the era. He sang other people’s songs, the standout one on Side A, being ‘Summertime’ a Gershwin/Heyward number, a composition for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess. Joyous in every shape and form…
Elsewhere, you get plenty of horns, some shuffling percussion, no better on show than Side B Track A, ‘Turn me loose’, an absolute blowout. But if you haven’t listened to early years pop, it’s an art form in itself. Music evolved during the 60’s and before electronics came to the fore in the 70’s and beyond, but these were compositions of the day and no better shown than on this LP. Sang well, varied and epitomising the late 50’s / early 60’s music industry.
